| 1:01 am | Meh Modblog's not working. But I wanted to post. So here I am. And if you're here, you're an idiot. But oh well. I've consumed an enormous amount of alcohol. I'm listening to China. That should say it all. The most beautiful performance I think I've ever heard. This is after listening to about 5 hours of Tori. Yes I started around 8. I'm alone. I wish I wasn't. I wish I had the courage to do what I have to do. But oh well. I told Kristi to make me. I'm sure she'll hold up her end of the deal. I really need her to. | 11:23 am | I am stealing this bit from Evan's blog, because, well, it is too funny for words! i am instant messaging yashoda. my mom cannot remember yashoda's name. she does seem to either get the 'ya' part or the ending 'ah' sound pretty consistently, though. I had told her i knew three girls who were staying at the same apartment complex as us. "oh really. what are they called?" megan amy and yasoda. now my mom will be hypothesizing (i cannot spell) future events and completely butcher the names. "oh now you guys and megan and amelia and yishway can all have dinner together" she seems to recall megan because my sister is named megan. "now pancha and alberta and megan dont eat dead people with dirty spoons now do they" i dont think so. they strike me as very clean. | 4:11 pm | A funny thing happened on the way to the grocery store... I was rocking out to a mix cd that I had made, and the strangest thing happened. I briefly paused the cd between tracks 18 and 19 to see if by any miracle something good would play on the radio. And the most unbelievable thing happened! The song that was about to play on my cd, they played it on the Buzz!!!! I mean, it's one thing if I were listening to Linkin Park or something(not that that would ever happen) and they played them on the radio, but no. This was Somebody Told Me, by The Killers aka a band that is not mainstream, and also my new favorite, lol. | 11:24 pm | Moviiiies Well, today I saw The Day After Tomorrow. And no morons, I mean the movie, not that I'm psychic. Anyhoo. It was fucking great! Soo much better than I expected! But I'm pissed, cause I left the theatre briefly to make a quick call, and I come back and Kristi tells me I missed seeing Jake Gyllenhaal in his boxers :(. Mega sad face. But it's ok, cause the movie was surprising well-written, though the political commentary was slightly lacking in subtlety, lol. But oh well. So I was reading the new Time magazine, and they have an article about The 12 Songs Of The Summer. So imagine my GREAT surprise at one of the songs mentioned. Can you guess? No u can't. Are you ready? The winner is... "Portions for Foxes" by Rilo Kiley!!! HOLY CRAP!!! I mean, it's a fucking awesome song, and I've been listening to it nonstop for days, but TIME MAGAZINE!!! WTF! Here's what they had to say, if you care: " Portions for Foxes ~ Rilo Kiley The tightest thing to emerge from the indie-rock Petri dish in years - it's an adult bad-relationship tune ("I know I'm alone if I'm with or without you/ But just being around you offers me another form of relief") punctuated by a hook-y guitar line and lead singer Jenny Lewis' bittersweet and oft-repeated wail that she's "bad news." It's notably smarter than anything else on this list [I second that]. But, says Morning Becomes Eclectic DJ Nic Harcourt: "I played it on the show, and I couldn't stop singing along with the 'bad news' part. This belongs all over commercial radio." So yeah. Crazy huh?
